Poor Grammar, including the rogue apostrophe, has become endemic within our society. A recent case on social media highlighted the plight of someone who, through poor use of capital letters, when asked to help his uncle down from a horse, actually helped him perform a sexual act on it.
We at Apostropolice aim to help those who have encountered poor grammar of all sorts, and to help them rebuild their lives in a meaningful and grammatically appropriate way; and without stigmatising them. We never blame the victim of poor grammar; only the perpetrator.
Although there is no evidence, science has proved that poor grammar was responsible for the Great Plague of London in 1665; the Great Fire of London in 1666; measles; smelly feet; Geoff Hurst’s disputed goal in the 1966 World Cup final and Margaret Thatcher’s victory in the 1979 UK General Election.
The time has come to say enough is enough (although that is a semantically null statement, common idioms are excepted forms of expression).
If you have been a victim of poor grammar and you would like to share your story and the effects that it had on you; we want to hear from you.
